Medical Imaging Technologists
The union for MITs.
APEX represents more than 1,500 medical imaging technologists across Aotearoa, including professionals working in MRI and nuclear medicine, employed within both Te Whatu Ora and private radiology services.
The union has a long history of advocating for radiographers in the public health system, with representation in public hospitals dating back to the 1990s. A key milestone in this work was achieved in 2007 with the establishment of the first national collective agreement for medical imaging technologists, the DHB MECA, setting a foundation for consistent employment standards across the sector.
